Missions - International
TAJIKISTAN - David Andrianoff -
January 2007 |

Thank you for your
prayers as I was sent to Tajikistan by Northwest Medical Teams.
Their office has been established
in Dushanbe (the capital of Tajikistan ) and their organization
has been officially registered with the government. |
I had assumed that it would not
take long to accomplish the task, and that I would spend my time
taking on new tasks. When I arrived it seemed that my assumptions
were right, because on my first day in the office, the Ministry
of Justice informed me that all the work was done and that our
registration document would be signed by 4:00 p.m. that day.
That did not happen. Nor did it happen the next day. For the
next three weeks we checked on the registration at least daily.
Finally, after three weeks, the Minister of Justice asked if
it were true that Northwest Medical Teams was changing its name.
With great reluctance I had to admit that it was true: Effective
January 1 the name changed from Northwest Medical Teams to Medical
Teams International. As a result, we had to start the registration
process from the beginning.
But God is good and His timing is perfect.
One week before I left Tajikistan , we received our official
registration document. In working with the government of Tajikistan
, I have gained a new perspective on "Red Tape."
Your prayers were
answered. Not only was the purpose for which I was sent to Tajikistan
accomplished, but I stayed safe and healthy. I praise God for His
goodness, and thank you for your prayers.
|
Please
pray for the people of Tajikistan . They have not heard the good
news of great joy that will be for all the people (including
the peoples of Tajikistan ) that the angels brought to the shepherds.
They do not know that Christ the Lord has been born in Bethlehem
. Pray that they may join us and the great choir of angels in
singing "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace
to men on whom his favor rests." |

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF SHIPMENT - November 2006
Submitted by E. Schenk
The shipment of 1,412 pounds of clothing and
kits consisted of the following:
- 373 pounds men and children's clothing
- 257 pounds sweaters
- 54 quilts
- 228 school kits
This is the last shipment of clothing to be sent,
because the recipient countries want to encourage buying
in their own land to improve their economy. Just how LWR will help in
this request is unknown to me,
however, at this time, but I am certain that one way or another, monetary
gifts will help the needy
through Christian agencies established in these places.
LWRelief encourages us to continue preparing the kits, such as school
kits, sewing kits, fabric, health
kits and layettes as well as all of the quilts we can make. There is
a great need for them.
A layette is made up of: 4 cloth diapers, 26”x28", 2 receiving
blankets, 2 undershirts, 2 sleepers or
gowns, 1 washcloth, 1 bar of soap wrapped, one sweater, and 2 safety
pins.
A sewing kit - Three yards of 44” or 45" pre-washed cotton
or cotton-blend fabric, 1 package of sewing
needles for hand sewing,1 spool of matching thread, 1 card of 6 or more
1/2" to 5/8" matching buttons.
Sewing fabric - 3 yards pre-washed cotton or cotton blend fabric. No
holes or stains please.
School kits (we make the bags) and place a list of items in the bag
for convenience sake. We thank you
for helping with this project.
Quilts. Donations of fabric, cotton,
cotton blend, wool, corduroy and/or knit fabrics are all used in
making quilts.
If you would like to help, you may contribute to any or all of the above.
Give your items to the ladies in
the quilting or packing room on Thursdays or leave the items in a bag
or box next to the name tag
counter - mark “Missions” on the bag or box.
